Men as the public face in a female dominated field

I was researching a problem for a possible client on some tools vendor websites when it hit me – where are the women? Almost all of the public faces of these companies are male (Betsy Weber of TechSmith and Nicky Bleiel of ComponentOne being the only exceptions I can think of). Look at the About Us on the vendor websites – all male. Look at the faces in the tools booths at the tradeshow/conferences – all male. But the field of technical communication is predominately female – at least in the US. Look at the attendees...
